For her new podcast series, Nothing Works but the People, Joburg multimedia ace and storyteller Pheladi Sethusa’s has spent months shadowing different South Africans at work to cast a light on what real work looks like here, and what it means for the country and its people.

Last week she shadowed architects; this week she changes pace entirely and plunges headfirst in a world of workers who’re shaping your children on the daily.

Yes, education is this week’s focus. Of the episode Sethusa says: “Teachers will be the engine for our 40-minute journey. We follow both private- and public-school educators over the course of a day. As we move from class to class, we get a unique and intimate insight into the challenges and glimmers of good that come with being a teacher in the hypermodern age.”
