Have to pick something out for the person who believes that there’s no such thing as too much bright colour? Look no further. We’ve sorted through the mire of dire and found brilliant bits and pieces that look like they came out of the sour-gum mix at the sweet shop.

Unsurprisingly, many top contenders were found in the sporting aisles. What is it about activity that asks for a flash of neon orange or a bolt of electric naartjie? Does it make the exerciser zippier, punchier, possibly even cooler? Could a colour psychologist let us know?

Inner workings of the crack Comrades runner aside, we do think this realm is the perfect place to find a gift for that friend or spouse who is padel-obsessive. (You know the type: they post pics post-game on the socials, they bore everyone with stories of their wins, they arrive at the coffee shop still sweaty in their kit.) How we wish what happened on the court would stay there. But we’re not grinchy enough to say they shouldn’t look cool as they attempt to escape the realities of their real life. Get them the Hyko racket, which comes as part of a set – and the Falke socks to match.

Otherwise there’s new art from Andrjez Urbanski, utterly gorgeous Jack Rabbit bonbons and, erm, a lot of ideas for cooking chicken.
