This year marks a decade since Brent Lindeque launched Good Things Guy – the site and social platform dedicated to sharing only positive stories. In a world that feeds on bad stuff, his realm of hope, humour and kindness is an essential tonic.

Lindeque is a national treasure – equal parts hilarious and heartfelt – with an effervescent energy squeezed in there too. We love him for his impact, his outlook, and because he’s a damn delight to be around.

What’s the best book you’ve read in the past year. And why?

I’m not sure it’s the “best” book I’ve read, but it hasn’t left me. I keep thinking about it. A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. It’s heartbreaking. Tragic. And unnecessary. I blame TikTok for making me read it. Don’t do it. It’s not worth it. LOL.

How do you keep fit?

Jissie, in so many ways. And keeping fit is so important to me … both from mental and physical health points of view. I run, cycle and I’ll try to get to the gym at least four times a week. Oh … taking my dogs for a walk is my best!

Weeknight, lowkey restaurant go-to?

Jonny’s in Dainfern. It is an institution. Have the trinchado.

What is the one artwork you’ll always love, and why?

Anything Picasso. In my first year of varsity, I was given a daily planner that was Picasso-inspired. Every couple of pages had one of his artworks and I fell deeply in love with all of them.

Do you have a hobby?

Watching series and movies. Is that a hobby? I think so. Building Lego. Yes, I am like a child. PlayStation. Cycling. Dirt biking. And being with friends. That’s a hobby too, right?

The one unusual item you can’t live without?

Vinegar. I think I am addicted. It goes on most foods.

Who was your high school celeb crush?

Christina Aguilera and Heath Ledger. In equal measure.

Three songs that you’d take to a desert island?

Now this is a tough one… but here goes: Taylor Swift – All Too Well (10-minute version). Stop judging me. 4 Non Blondes – What’s Going On? I think it may help me with anger issues about being on a deserted island. Fleetwood Mac – Dreams. Classic.
