Have we spent many an hour watching social media star Fehmz (or Fehmida Jordaan, if you must be formal) cook up something delicious? Have we been mesmerised by her warm, funny, inclusive ways with an audience and food? Yes to all the above.
The busy content curator, mom and entrepreneur has somehow found the time to put together a recipe book – which is out at the end of the month – and so, in anticipation, we got her to answer our eight questions …
What’s the best book you’ve read in the past year?
I finally got down to reading Shubnum Khan’s The Lost Love of Akbar Manzil and Saaleha Bhamjee’s Home Scar – both so different but so good in their storytelling. I love that they drew me in as if I was living the moments or watching it happen. When you dream of what you’ve read as if you were there, then you know it’s a well-written book.
How do you keep fit?
I am allergic to exercise. Hahahaha. I am not a fan of traditional exercise, so I do kickboxing, and I like walking.
Weeknight, lowkey restaurant go-to?
As a mom of two, this is a luxury I am yet to experience. I am also still on the hunt for the perfect steak at a restaurant. Haven’t found it yet.
What is the one artwork you’ll always love, and why?
I love Lorraine Loots’ artwork for ants. They are so detailed and intricate and beautiful!
Do you have a hobby?
Does homeware shopping count? Because I am obsessed – but my hobby is actually baking, which has now turned into what I share online anyway.
The one unusual item you can’t live without?
It’s not unusual but I can’t live without my blender. I use it to cheat lots of recipes – sweet and savoury.
Who was your high school celeb crush?
Had to be Kevin (Richardson) from Backstreet Boys.
Three songs that you’d take to a desert island?
I don’t really listen to music much. I’m a talk radio kinda gal now.
