Garuzis is a place in what is now Etosha National Park, Namibia, where the Bruwer family’s great-grandmother – of Springfield Estate fame – grew up. This celebratory sparkling wine is a nod to that heritage, with a touch of charm.

Our pick this week:

Springfield Garuzis Brut Cap Classique

R314.99, Woolworths

Why we love it:

Garuzis Brut is a sparkling wine that feels celebratory without being fussy. Made from chardonnay and pinot noir, it has fresh flavours of green apple, lime and white peach, with a subtle richness that hints at brioche, honey and almonds. It spends two and a half years maturing before release, which gives it depth and character, but at heart it is crisp, zesty and very easy to drink. It’s a glass worth raising, whether you are toasting something big or just the end of a long week.
