A multifaceted spritz of citrus, a touch of toast and spice – this chardonnay is the perfect autumnal treat.

Chardonnay can sometimes feel a little overworked, but Avontuur’s Disa Gorge keeps things nicely in check. We urge you to give it a little try, even if it’s not your varietal of choice.

Our pick this week:

Avontuur Disa Gorge Chardonnay

R349.99, Woolworths

Why we love it:

Expect citrus blossom and lime on the nose, followed by white peach and a squeeze of grapefruit. A touch of oak brings gentle toast and spice. Fresh, polished and confident, it’s the type of white wine that disappears surprisingly quickly.

Oh, and heads up: the Eat Out restaurant guide’s team has paired standout restaurant dishes with a selection of wines, all of which you’ll find on shelf at WCellar – this is one of them.
