October is Pinotage Month in South Africa and this year there’s extra reason to raise a glass. Pinotage turns 100, and Woolworths is marking the milestone with a brand-new, limited-edition bottle. And it’s giving away a bottle to one Currency reader. Entry details below!

Our pick this week:

Woolworths Pinotage 100 Years Celebration Blend

R249.99, Woolworths

Why we love it:

The wine is a collaborative blend from five of the country’s top producers – Kanonkop, L’Avenir, Kaapzicht, Beyerskloof and Simonsig – which have come together to honour our homegrown grape. And because looks matter too, the label is a small artwork in its own right. It was created by South African artist Andrew Sutherland and inspired by local fynbos and flora. Collectible? Absolutely. Drinkable? Even more so. The special release is in store from October 13, so keep an eye out for it.

How to enter:

Want to stand a chance to win a bottle? Just name one of the five producers who helped make this special blend and you could be the one popping the cork. Pop your answer to info@currencynews.co.za and we’ll pick one winner in a randomly generated draw. T&Cs are below.

T&Cs

The Currency team will randomly draw a winner from the list of correct entries received via email at info@currencynews.co.za. The competition closes at 5pm Thursday October 16 2025. We will contact the winner directly and Woolworths will send them the prize. The Currency team’s decision is final. Only those living in South Africa are eligible for the prize (so we can have the wine delivered to you in South Africa). No Currency or Woolworths employees or their immediate families may enter.
