We have Wendy Appelbaum and the good folks at DeMorgenzon estate to thank for the DMZ range. It runs from the very affordable to the rather fancy – and, in all, it’s a perennial favourite of the Currency team.
Our pick this week:
DMZ Reserve Chenin Blanc
R489.99, Woolworths
Why we love it:
If you needed another reminder that chenin blanc is South Africa’s lowkey superpower, here it is. On the WCellar Top 10 South African Wines list, DeMorgenzon’s DMZ Reserve is barrel-fermented, giving it a lovely round texture while keeping that crisp, zippy freshness intact. It’s polished and easy to drink – so, inevitably, one glass tends to lead to another.
