What we’re drinking this week: Aperol & Cinzano Spritz

Combine a classic apéritif and a bottle of dry fizz, and the result is this gem.

This is a drink that was a firm favourite over the now distant December holidays. In an effort to rekindle some of that ultra-relaxed but sociable spirit, we’re cracking open both the Aperol and Cinzano Spritz and will be pouring ourselves a big glass of sunset-coloured respite.

Our pick for this week: Aperol & Cinzano Spritz

Aperol Spirit Cooler, R319,99, Woolworths
Cinzano Pro Spritz, R104,99 Woolworths

Why we love it:

Aperol’s spirit cooler is a super-refreshing and dry (instead of sweet) Italian apéritif, served before a meal to stimulate the appetite. Made of gentian, rhubarb and cinchona, it has a vibrant orange hue. You can expect soft scents of orange on the nose, and it starts off sweetly on the palate, but develops a slight bitterness towards the finish. A true Italian classico, and we’re here for it!
