This week the Woolworth’s WCellar buying team picked a party-perfect bottle of bubbly that comes in a gift pack – and won’t make it beyond the first 10 minutes of the office end of year lunch, if you ask us.

Our pick for this week:

Signature Cap Classique Vintage Reserve Brut (the Christmas gift pack edition)

R399.99, Woolworths

Why we love it:

This vintage cap classique sparkling wine is made according to the centuries-old traditional method. The extended maturation period of more than five years on the lees enriches the colour and flavour to produce one of South Africa’s finest fizzes. Further maturation for up to three years will enhance its complexity, and it’s enjoyable with seafood, white meat dishes or creamy desserts. Frankly, it’s such a fabulous bubbly that it would pair well with a packet of crisps, and is also perfect solo!

To make it even more special, it’s currently available in a beautiful box with a champagne bottle stopper included. Not sure what the latter is for, because there won’t be leftovers, but it makes a lovely gift.
