Winter has a way of making everyone suddenly very committed to “a quiet night in”. These evenings spent laying low and tucking into comfort food are actually the exact moment that booze-free bottles of vino like this come into their own.

Our pick this week:

Lautus De-Alcoholised Sauvignon Blanc

R99.99, Woolworths

Why we love it:

You may already be familiar with WCellar’s alcohol-free range, but it has had a proper glow-up, with the wine team working alongside industry experts, including the Lautus crew, to rethink the whole caboodle.

The result here is a sauvignon blanc that is still polished and properly grown-up, despite the alcohol being carefully removed. Expect gooseberry, citrus and a little green capsicum on the nose, with tropical fruit and lime keeping things bright and fresh on the palate. Crisp, clean and refreshingly free of the slightly sad compromise non-alcoholic wine used to involve.
